The countryside is in decline, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. Businesspeople can intervene, and here is another opportunity to find out how: the Oplossings vir Suid-Afrika se platteland conference on 20 and 21 February 2024, outside Bothaville.

As a partner of this conference, presented by Landbouweekblad and Senwes, Sakeliga would like to invite everyone in our network to attend. If you are involved or want to be involved in solutions to failure in your town or region, come and join many other businesses and community organisations, you can learn from and collaborate with for ideas and solutions.

The conference’s speaker list is extensive and provides excellent complements for participants in Sakeliga’s 2023 Summit for Stronger Business Chambers and Business Organisations (click here for an overview of that Summit).

Piet le Roux, CEO of Sakeliga, will act as one of the speakers at Oplossings vir Suid-Afrika se platteland, discussing a strategy for business chambers to restore economic control in towns suffering from state failure. The crisis in the countryside requires scalable solutions that respond to the threat and the opportunity of state collapse. With good coordination, local business communities can help develop such answers for themselves and their communities to restore order and prosperity to their local economies.

Sakeliga encourages the participating business chambers, community and industry organisations from Sakeliga’s Business Chamber Support Network, as well as other stakeholders, to attend the Solutions for South Africa’s countryside conference.
